Baguio City, November 21, 2023 - The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bokod stands proudly among the esteemed recipients of the 2022 Forwarding Local Autonomy Medal of Excellence (FLAME) Award from the Regional Development Council - Cordillera (RDC-CAR). The prestigious ceremony took place earlier today at the Venus Park View Hotel, Baguio City.
Mayor Thomas K. Wales, Jr. graciously accepted the award on behalf of LGU Bokod, specifically recognized with the Special Award for Category 5 (4th Class Municipalities). The FLAME AWARD acknowledges local governments that distinguish themselves through exemplary efforts in promoting good governance and active participation in RDC-related initiatives.
Now in its 4th round of implementation, the FLAME AWARD has diligently evaluated provinces, cities, and municipalities for the years 2019-2022 based on three key criteria:
- Recognition of LGU efforts towards Good Governance (30 pts)
- LGU support to RDC initiatives and advocacies on regional development and autonomy (60 pts)
- Participation in the RDC-led Activities (10 pts)
Under the dynamic leadership of Mayor Wales, LGU Bokod demonstrated outstanding commitment and contributions in each of these areas, earning the well-deserved accolade. The FLAME Regional Assessment Team, chaired by Dir. Araceli A. San Jose, Regional Director of DILG CAR, played a crucial role in evaluating and acknowledging the achievements of LGUs across the region.
The RDC-CAR Chairperson, Hon. Elias C. Bulut, Jr., Governor of the Province of Apayao, expressed his congratulations to LGU Bokod and all the awardees. The FLAME Award not only recognizes achievements but also serves as a testament to the dedication of local governments in fostering development and autonomy within the Cordillera region.
